Why Ufirst exists
Ask a wheelchair user what stops them attending an appointment, a class or a family event and the answer is rarely the destination. It is the journey. A taxi that cannot take the chair. A community vehicle with a three-week waiting list. A well-meaning relative wrestling a powered chair into a car boot until everybody agrees it is easier to stay at home.
Ufirst was built to remove that as a reason. Not by being the cheapest operator on the road, but by being the one that actually turns up with the right vehicle, the right equipment and a crew who know what they are doing. Every part of the operation follows from that: the vehicles we buy, the questions we ask when you book, the training our drivers complete before they carry anyone.
We work across three quite different worlds. NHS teams need capacity they can rely on for discharges and clinics. Local authorities need contracted routes with continuity for vulnerable passengers. Families need someone who will answer the phone and speak plainly about cost. Those are different administrative problems, and we run them differently — but the person in the back of the vehicle gets the same standard of care regardless of who is paying.
“Making transportation easy for persons living with disabilities” is the whole brief. Everything else is implementation detail.

What we believe
How we run the operation
The people

Route planning, vehicle allocation and day-to-day dispatch.

Taking journey details, confirming access and issuing confirmations.

Enhanced DBS checked, trained in passenger handling and restraint fitting.

Additional support on SEND routes and higher-dependency journeys.
Recruiting. We are always interested in drivers and passenger assistants who understand that this work is care as much as it is driving. Email info@ufirstservices.co.uk with the subject “Recruitment”.

Standards we work to
Talk to us about a single journey, a repeating schedule or a contracted route. We will be straight with you about what we can and cannot cover.
